Why we built TapReceipt

15 May 2026 · by Keaton Ford

Every shop owner I know has the same drawer at home. The one with hundreds of crumpled till receipts they meant to expense, file, or check — but never did.

And it gets worse. Most receipts on the high street are printed on thermal paper, which can’t be recycled and contains BPA. They cost the shop money to print. They cost the customer nothing but get thrown away within minutes.

So we asked a simple question: why are we still doing this in 2026?

Phones already have everything you need. Modern iPhones and Androids have NFC built in. Email is universal. POS systems already know exactly what was sold. The missing piece was a tiny bridge between them.

That bridge is a 50p NFC sticker stuck to your till.

Customers tap their phone. They enter their email once. Future taps at the same shop are instant. The receipt lands in their inbox before they’ve put their phone back in their pocket. The shop pays 2p instead of 15p. Nobody prints anything.

That’s it. That’s the whole product. We just wanted to make the obvious thing actually exist.

If you run a shop in the UK and you’re tired of bin-bound paper, give us a try. The first till takes ten minutes to set up.
